Here at DEL we take pride in our ability to undergo such a wide variety of custom projects. So when Derecktor Shipyards, the United States’ foremost leader in aluminum boat production and a worldwide leader in yacht and commercial construction, contacted us for help with one of their largest builds to date, we were excited. We were able to provide several varieties of 24VDC systems which were easily integrated with not only the ships automation control system, but its electrical power concerns as well.
At 281 (85.6m) feet and 2,950 tons, this Cakewalk surpasses her four predecessors in size and is the largest yacht built in the U.S. since the 1930s, and possibly the biggest ever built in the States when measured by volume.
The sheer amount of space is unparalleled and opens a world of possibilities for extraordinary design and craftsmanship. Styled by internationally acclaimed yacht designer, Tim Heywood, she embodies everything one comes to expect from a Cakewalk – and more!
When designing the new Lutron engineering building CB4 at their headquarters located in Coopersburg, PA, it was decided that DEL Motorized Solutions was the best company to handle the project. CB4 not only was the first building to incorporate the new Lutron Quantum Control system, but it also integrated a total of over 270 Sivoia QS roller shades as well. Due to our close relationship with Lutron and past projects, DEL was called in to handle the mock up and install of all the Sivoia QS products.
Joel and Ruth Spira founded Lutron Electronics Company, Inc. in 1961. Lutron’s first product was called a “dimmer switch” and represented the world’s first solid-state electronic device used to dim lights in a home, replacing bulky rheostats and autotransformers that were inefficient and unattractive. Although Lutron has grown substantially over the past several decades and currently offers over 10,000 products, the company still maintains the feel and personal closeness of a smaller firm. Lutron still remains to this day the only company that provides an integrated solution for controlling both natural daylight as well as electrical lighting.
The Martin Luther King Court House was originally designed with several large skylights to allow for natural lighting of their courtroom. It was soon realized that an excess of natural light could be a distraction in the rooms proceeding. DEL Motorized Solutions was able to manufacture a cellular skylight system which allowed them to regain control of their lighting environment.

Essex is the largest and busiest trial court in New Jersey with a complement of approximately 60 judges and about 1,100 staff. The Superior Court of New Jersey serving the 22 municipalities of Essex Vicinage is located in downtown Newark in five separate buildings. We serve the 798,301 citizens of Essex County living in 22 municipalities in an area of 127.44 square miles.
Working on such an architecturally stunning building presented some extraordinary problems as most of the window walls are curved with the facade of the building. We were able to build a custom curved system which allowed total control of the ambient light while keeping true to the sleek appeal of such a visual marvel.
Soaring 42 stories above Center City, Murano is Philadelphia’s newest and most thrilling luxury condominium. Like the fine Italian glass it is named for, Murano merges form and function, life and art, to stunning effect. The views, the convenience, the luxurious amenities – they’re all here. It’s a residence like no other.
Below is a demonstration of the project. A sheer roller shade was used to greatly reduce the visible sun glare in the room. This reduction in glare can easily be seen by the shadowing on the floor as the system operates. We were also able to achieve a minimal impact on the beauty of such a scenic view.
When designing The National Constitution Center in Historic Philadelphia special attention was paid to not only highlight the excellence in the birth of our nation but to do so in a visually stunning environment. DEL Motorized Solutions was called in to add upon the amazing decor with several 20 ft tall metal coil drapery systems. These systems not only added beauty, but also functionally as they serve as room dividers when closed.
The National Constitution Center
The National Constitution Center is an independent, non-partisan, and non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public understanding of, and appreciation for, the Constitution, its history, and its contemporary relevance, through an interactive, interpretive facility within Independence National Historic Park and a program of national outreach, so that “We the People” may better secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.
When Pfizer designed it’s over 2 million sqft facility in Ann Arbor, MI, it was decided that a large spacious cafeteria section was to have a three story open view of the surrounding landscape. Soon it became evident that glare and eye strain may become an overwhelming factor for the cafeteria’s visiting patrons. DEL Motorized Solutions, with the use of over 100 motorized shades, was able to design a system that with the touch of a button offered protection from harmful sun glare for all who visited this large venue.
